The Purple Cloaked Pirate
Entry One
“Captain!”
Joe turned. The man in the crow’s nest waved vigorously at him.
“Land ho, Captain Joe,” the man said with a chuckle. Captain Joe saw a small island that appeared deserted. He pulled a scroll out of his pocket. You will see busted ships, Joe looked up and saw a mess of masts jutting from the bay where ships had sunk. Skeletons and corpses of those before you. Again Joe looked up and saw the bodies of those perished before him. And the final noticeable feature is a volcano spewing purple smoke. Captain Joe looked up and saw something not everyone sees. A volcano spewing purple smoke. They had arrived.
Joe told his crew members to dock the ship at a rock that jutted out from the rugged, rocky shore. They did as told and Joe advanced forth. As soon as Joe set foot on the dried land an arrow whizzed past him and him a nearby wilted tree. Joe dove behind a small sand dune and then followed the arrows path of flight with his telescope. When Joe looked near the volcano, he spotted the arrows owner. A man with his wispy black hair partly covered by a purple bandana. The man looked Joe in the eye and sliced his finger across his throat. The man then grinned and hopped down, jumping and dodging arrows fired at him As the man stepped out from his little nook inside the mountain, Joe noticed that he was wearing a purple cloak and black boots. The man slung his bow on his back. He hopped from different parts of the volcano until he was at a cannon Joe hadn’t noticed before. Joe gritted his teeth as the man shot a cannon ball Joe’s ship. The impact of the ball shook the ship and the men inside violently. His men scattered, but Joe could see the murky water turning red. His ship sank, only the mast was still visible. Joe and a fifth of his forty-five man crew turned back towards the man in the purple attire and charged.
The man flashed his pearly whites, which were more like rotten browns. It was only about once a week he got visitors. Some from Darrenport, some from Frylington, and rarely some from Moserve. This crew, with their sea green armor and sails, was most likely from Darrenport. The man jogged down a beaten path on the volcano until he was only about twelve yards away from them. “Hello my friends!” He taunted. “Come to kill me?” The man jumped away as an arrow flew behind him. “Good luck!” He then pulled out his bow and nailed one archer in the gut, knocking him of the hill and killing the him. Another arrow flew towards the man. This time he grabbed it out of the air and notched it in his own bow, then fired it. “Well,” he spoke. “Let me introduce myself. My name, well, you can just call me The Purple Cloaked Pirate.” He grinned and shot another man of the hill. A foot soldier charged but The Purple Cloaked Pirate quickly unsheathed a black sword with purple markings. The sword turned the foot soldier’s leather armor from green to red. The Pirate swung his sword again and slashed another soldier across the cheek. Joe yelled orders to his crew. The five remaining soldiers and their captain crowded around The Pirate. He kicked one in the stomach and impaled another with his sword. The Pirate hit another with his pommel. A soldier swiped at him and grazed The Pirate in the knee cap. He showed no pain and kicked the soldier over the edge and beamed when the soldier’s comrades winced at the sound of their crew mate's spine snap. The last soldier engaged him and The Pirate ran his blade through his opponents skull. The Purple Cloaked Pirate advanced on the captain. “I come to kill you and be named the greatest warrior and captain of all time.” Joe stated with a tinge of fear, yet mostly pride in his voice. The pirate threw back his head and laughed. “You see all these ships? Being from Darrenport you must be familiar with them.”
“Yes.” Captain Joe replied. Stunned that The Pirate knew his hometown.
“Each and every ship carried at least twenty men. Not one has made it out alive, and the same amount has injured me.” Captain Joe pointed to The Pirate’s knee. “My soldier cut your knee.” He protested. “That’s an injury.” The pirate pulled up his purple leggings, revealing a cut with blood that was drying already. “That is nothing at all.” He said. “Now let’s see if you can beat me.” The Pirate lunged towards Captain Joe and sliced his sword along Joe’s arm. Joe tried to stab him in the leg, but The Pirate stopped him from doing so and unarmed Captain Joe in the process. The Pirate picked up Captain Joe’s sword and grinned. “It is only fair for me to give you this back.” He said as he threw the sword into the dirt. As Captain Joe Reached down to grab it, The Pirate said “But as you may have noticed, that isn’t how I win.” He then kicked Captain Joe in the head and added him to the list of people who have attempted, and failed, to kill The Purple Cloaked Pirate.
I love it!!
ReplyDeleteGreat showing Brendan. I also like the "more like rotten browns". Very funny. Great cliffhanger at the end too.
